The Common Stage
SUNDAY 26 July
Sister Sledge is an iconic American vocal group formed in Philadelphia in the early 1970s, originally consisting of sisters Debbie, Joni, Kim, and Kathy Sledge. Rising to international fame during the disco era, they are best known for timeless hits like “We Are Family,” “He’s the Greatest Dancer,” and “Lost in Music.”
Their breakthrough came through a celebrated collaboration with producers Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of Chic, whose funk-driven sound helped define their legacy. Celebrated for messages of unity, empowerment, and joy, Sister Sledge remains one of the most influential and enduring groups in disco, funk, and R&B history.
